Mel originated from Africa and arrived in London in 1987 to develop a fresh international dimension and also to collaborate with other artists adding to her past experience and successes.
Arriving in London with a couple of suitcases and a sack full of dreams she worked during the day whilst rehearsing, making contacts, gathering support and developing her unique performance style and original material during the night.
No stranger to the ups and downs of a creative and enterprising life, Mel’s one time business partner’s lapse management style in 2002 facilitated the loss of her own recording studio, live on-stage sound equipment and a near complete album of original songs. Within two years she had surpassed her previous material as her most recent recordings and live performances bear testament.
When asked about her life and experiences Mel says, “I won’t tell people that the road I walked has been one of unmitigated hardship and eating dirt along the way, I’ll tell them that I did it with passion because I love what I do and do it with passion.
